Bulk replace GTC and PHC objectives from a spreadsheet

Use AI Import to replace a complete list of General Tree Care or Plant Health Care service goals from an Excel or CSV file. ArborNote maps the uploaded columns to Objective and Description, shows a preview, and lets you correct the mapping before saving.

Important: AI Import is a full replacement, not a merge. When you import a file, every existing objective on the selected tab is removed and replaced by the rows shown in the preview. There is no undo.

Before You Begin

Prepare an .xlsx or .csv file with one objective per row.

Include a column for the objective name and a column for its description.

Include every objective you want to keep. Anything omitted from the file will be removed from the selected tab.

Import GTC and PHC separately. Each tab maintains its own list.

Recommended File Format

Column names do not have to match ArborNote exactly. AI can map alternatives such as Goal to Objective, but clear headings make the preview easier to verify.

Import Service Goals

1. Open Service Goals. On the desktop app, go to Settings > General > Service Goals.

2. Choose the correct tab. Select GTC or PHC based on the objective list you want to replace.

3. Start the import. Click AI Import next to Add, Edit, and Delete.

4. Upload the file. Select an .xlsx or .csv spreadsheet.

5. Review the preview. On the Preview Import Data screen, confirm that every row appears correctly under Objective and Description.

6. Correct the mapping if needed. Describe the correction above the table, such as “Map the Goal column to Objective instead,” and click Re-map with AI. Review the updated preview.

7. Import the list. After confirming that the preview contains the full list you want, click Import. To leave the current list unchanged, click Cancel.

Before clicking Import: compare the preview with the spreadsheet and confirm that it includes every objective you want to retain on that tab.

When to Use Manual Editing

Use Add, Edit, or Delete instead of AI Import when you only need to change a few objectives. Manual editing preserves the rest of the existing list; AI Import replaces it.

Troubleshooting and Support FAQ

Can objective lists be uploaded in bulk?

Yes. Go to Settings > General > Service Goals, choose the GTC or PHC tab, and click AI Import.

Does AI Import merge the spreadsheet with the current list?

No. It replaces the entire list on the selected tab. Any current objective that is not included in the uploaded file will be removed.

Can I update only a few terms with AI Import?

No. Use Add, Edit, or Delete for a small number of changes.

Does this work for both GTC and PHC?

Yes. Import each list separately from its matching tab.

Which file types are accepted?

.xlsx and .csv files are supported.

What if the columns are mapped incorrectly?

Enter a short instruction above the preview table and click Re-map with AI. Do not click Import until Objective and Description are mapped correctly.

Can I export the current objective list first?

Not yet. Open each tab and copy the Objective and Description columns into a spreadsheet before importing if you need a record of the current list.

Can an import be undone?

No. The previous list is replaced when Import is clicked. Verify the preview and keep a copy of the prior list when needed.
